Hydropower is the most important and most economical of renewable energy sources for electricity generation. VERBUND is today one of the largest electricity producers from hydropower in Europe. More than four fifths of our electricity comes from climate-friendly renewable hydropower.

Almost all of the electricity demand coming from the entirety of Austrian private households is covered by VERBUND's Danube power plants alone. Operating our plants efficiently, we protect people, nature and climate. Electricity from hydropower is a valuable commodity, in which we will continue to invest prudently in the future.
