People represent one of the company’s key pillars, carrying our company’s success and the way in which we deal with each other. In order to lastingly adhere to our credo of sustained company development, we place a great deal of value on the education and further training of VERBUND employees, as well as on a healthy work-life balance. We put a lot of emphasis on individual methods of development and interesting opportunities for the future.

We are conscious of our social responsibility and are growing through quality awareness and the excellent teamwork of our employees. An open communication and respectful culture of discussion are considered to be the foundation for a constructive and successful collaboration.

Good relationships to our customers are important to VERBUND and the prerequisite for our success. VERBUND supplies private households throughout Austria with clean electricity from hydropower. Furthermore, we reliably supply commercial, business and industrial customers with electricity. We also offer tailor-made products to market partners and business customers in Germany.

Our investor relations department maintains contact with our shareholders in order to organise the collaboration with our owners in an efficient and transparent way. VERBUND’s majority shareholder is the Republic of Austria with 51 %, followed by the syndicate EVN AG & Wiener Stadtwerke Holding AG with more than 25 %, as well as TIWAG with more than 5 %. Fewer than 20 % of the shares are to be found in widespread shareholdings.

VERBUND is a fair and reliable business partner to its suppliers.

Especially in the case of sensitive infrastructure projects, which directly infringe upon people’s living space, we provide comprehensive information at an early stage to all of those affected, and invite the involved parties to an open dialogue.

We make every effort to have an open dialogue with NGO’s and special interest groups. To this end, we regularly extend invitations to representatives of environmental protection organisations. We enter into discussions concerning controversial issues, but also on matters of common interest. We work together with Caritas Austria and Diakonie in order to support those who are threatened by poverty. We equally strive to have an open and trusting relationship with consumer protection organisations and employee representatives.

We openly present our goals to political decision-makers and to the general public. We take a clear stand on important issues – in active dialogue with politicians and authorities on a local, regional and national level, as well as with institutions from the European Union.

We campaign for an economical and efficient handling of that valuable source of energy, electricity. At the same time, we are committed to the fact that electricity from hydropower strengthens Austria’s environment, economy and society. It is for this reason that we are also reinforcing our social commitment in favour of disadvantaged people and the education of young people in terms of environmental and climate protection.

Time and again, we are at the centre of media reports concerning hydropower, electricity production, electricity pricing, etc. It is therefore our goal to supply the media with current information about our activities.
