Cindy Sherman attended the exhibition opening and book presentation in the Vertical Gallery in the VERBUND-Headquarters on January 25, 2012.

 

Gabriele Schor, director of the collection SAMMLUNG VERBUND, worked closely with the artist to research the conceptual beginnings of Sherman’s oeuvre, now presented in the catalogue raisonné. The exhibition Cindy Sherman. That´s me - That´s not me. Early Works 1975 – 1977 coincides with the publication of the book. 

The exhibition is on display till September 26 in the Vertical Gallery in the VERBUND-Headquarters and can be visited upon registration.

On 18 September, 2 p.m., Gabriele Schor, Head of SAMMLUNG VERBUND, gave an introduction to the work of Fred Sandback at the Gallery Winter. SAMMLUNG VERBUND owns the largest body of work by the artist in Europe. The exhibition was on show from 16 September to 16 November 2010 at the Gallery Winter.

While sculptures are typically formed from hard materials – stone, wood or metal – Sandback's sculptures constitute "volumes without volume". Experiencing his sculptures in space, for example, yarns stretched to form a large U, is a fascinating event.

On 10 September 2010 KulturKontakt Austria organised the symposium "From Sponsoring to Corporate Cultural Responsibility". The spotlight was placed upon the importance of creativity for innovations in science and technology and in social processes.

Commitment to art and culture can have a greater importance than the marketing instrument of sponsoring. The first round of talks on the subject "Sponsoring/Corporate Cultural Responsibility: What makes the difference?" saw discussions by Angelika Svoboda (corporate communications, Nestlé), Sabine Schauer (Corporate Communications Manager, Henkel) und Gabriele Schor (Director of SAMMLUNG VERBUND).
