Olafur Eliasson, whose "Yellow Fog" intervention is to be seen on the VERBUND facade during dusk, is strongly influenced by Fred Sandback. Both artists assume a dynamic space between the observer and the work of art.
Eliasson appreciates the fact that Fred Sandback has liberated art from its object character. Sandback has consistently broken away from traditional sculpture. His yarn sculptures create volumes without the mass of stone, wood or metal of traditional sculpture.
