VERBUND already operates an 18-MW wind farm in Hollern. The nine wind turbines were erected in 2004 and supply approximately 11,000 households with clean wind energy. Due to the rapid technological developments in the wind turbine area, only five wind turbines will be needed in the new wind farm Hollern II to supply approximately 10,600 households with clean wind energy.
During the implementation phase, VERBUND attaches prime importance to ensuring that natural resources are used in a careful and sustainable manner and that a partnership relationship is established with the municipalities.
Parallel to this, the 21-MW wind farm Petronell-Carnuntum II is being erected in the neighbouring municipality Petronell-Carnuntum. A further 21-MW wind farm in Bruck-Göttlesbrunn is currently in the development phase.
