Reisseck Mountain Railway

In a trip that takes approximately 25 minutes, the Reisseck funicular will take you along a breathtaking route from the valley station "Zandlach" to the mountain station "Schoberboden", where you continue your journey to the lake plateau with the Reisseck mountain railway.

The Steeper the Better!

In approx. 25 minutes, Reißeck funicular takes you along a breathtaking stretch from "Zandlach" base station to the upper station of "Schoberboden". Whilst you are able to enjoy a fantastic view of the Hohe Tauern summit, the funicular railway conquers a difference in altitude of 1,516 m and a gradient of, at times, 82 percent.

Reißeck high mountain railway, Europe’s highest, privately-owned narrow gauge railway, then takes you to "Bergrestaurant Reißeck" at more than 2,200 m above sea level.

Explore the Depths of the Mühldorf Dam

You will be accompanied to the Mühldorf Dam by experienced trekking guides, who will point out and explain everything to you en-route that is worth knowing about the generation of electricity from hydropower, the geographic region of Reisseck, the construction of reservoirs and the hiking and climbing opportunities in the surrounding area. The guided tour lasts approx. 90 minutes.

The meeting point is in front of the sun terrace in front of Reisseck mountain restaurant. Tickets are available from the valley station ticket office of Reisseck mountain railway or from the trekking guide.
