VERBUND is Austria’s leading energy company and one of the largest producers of electricity using hydropower in Europe.

Since 1947 – when it was founded as Österreichische Elektrizitätswirtschafts-AG – VERBUND has been helping to shape the future of energy: even back then, we were committed to hydropower and, by extension, renewable energy. Today, VERBUND is Austria’s largest electricity generator from renewable sources. We generate the majority of our electricity from hydropower, supplemented by wind, solar and thermal power.
