Apprenticeship in surveying technology

Your capabilities are in demand. To keep it running everywhere.

You're interested in an apprenticeship that could take you all over Austria? Even to the high mountain regions and to rivers, dams and reservoirs?

With an apprenticeship in surveying technology, you'll be up close and personal with our country's energy supply. In the areas surrounding our power plant facilities, you will carry out various kinds of complex measurements. In surveying technology, movements of the structures and changes in the hydrographic bottom are measured, evaluated and graphed. For this we use surveying equipment such as the tachymeter, surveyor's level and sonic depth finder. The care, maintenance and calibration of the appropriate devices are also some of your duties.

For this profession, you should not only have good technical and mathematical understanding, but an ability to think logically and analytically as well.
Another characteristic: Your workplace is not just in the workshop, but also in the great outdoors. For assignments in the high mountains or in bodies of water you should be physically capable and athletically fit. We will continue to develop your already good computer skills (ECDL modules would be an advantage). Your ready willingness to work in a group convinces us.

After concluding the apprenticeship:
As a surveying technician, you will conduct surveying, hydrographical and building measurements all over Austria at dams and power plant facilities, both for monitoring purposes and for preservation of evidence. Turbines, generators and transformers are some of your future job sites. These always need to be ready for use. All of the power plant's systems need constant maintenance – also by you. For this purpose you fabricate replacement parts, assemble and install them.

Our training programme for the apprenticeship in surveying technology is possible at locations in Austria with our subsidiary VERBUND Hydro Power AG. VERBUND Hydro Power AG generates electricity from hydropower.
