VERBUND wins first wholesale customer in France

The delivery quantity amounts to nearly 150 GWh, delivery will start on November 1, 2000. Linde Gaz, France, is the biggest French buyer that has changed suppliers so far.

The sites supplied by VERBUND are located in southern France, near Toulouse and Lyon. VERBUND was able to prevail against keenest international competition in the bidding procedure for Linde and the newly included AGA locations.

"This should not be the last gain in prestige", commented Mr. Johann Sereinig, VERBUND Marketing and Sales Director, "We are going to expand our international activities continuously." Mr. Sereinig pointed out that "VERBUND has already the highest export content among all European electricity suppliers". In the first half of the year 2000, 40 percent of VERBUND power were sold to foreign clients.

In addition to locations in Germany, Italy, Netherlands, Austria and in the Central European reforming countries, Austria’s biggest power supplier now also supplies its first client in France.
