VERBUND Receives Award in Austria's Leading Companies Competition

In this year's Austria's Leading Companies competition, VERBUND was awarded the second place in the Vienna group of the "Big Player" category.
October 8 saw the awarding of the competition winners in each federal state. The celebratory closing gala took place on 6 November in the Vienna Hofburg, where VERBUND's award was accepted by Dr. Johann Sereinig, VERBUND's deputy general director. The first place went to the real estate group Warimpex Finanz- und Beteiligungs AG.
Company operating figures are crucial
The competition was conducted by WirtschaftsBlatt in cooperation with PricewaterhouseCoopers and KSV1870. The turnover, growth, earnings and assets of the Austrian companies were evaluated, amongst other things.
A series of operating figures were determined from the figures provided by the participating companies. Each placement in the different individual rankings was reassessed. The final result ultimately arose from the mix of the individual rankings.
VERBUND is a turnover giant
With a turnover of 2.8 billion, VERBUND is the clear leader in the operating figures sector "turnover" — ahead of EVN AG with 2.07 billion Euro and Agrana Beteiligungs AG with 1.92 billion Euro.
403 companies were represented in this year's final group, including 131 in the "Big Player" category (turnover in excess of 50 billion Euro), as well as 136 medium-sized companies and dynamic small businesses, respectively. The majority of participants, namely 102, come from Vienna, 89 from Upper Austria and 65 from Lower Austria.
