Wolfgang Anzengruber new Chairman of the Managing Board

In its meeting today, the Supervisory Board of Verbund has appointed new members of the Managing Board of Austria’s largest energy company and number one on the Vienna Stock Exchange. Acting upon the unanimous proposal of the Nominating Committee, the Supervisory Board decided unanimously in favour of the appointment of Dipl.-Ing. Wolfgang Anzengruber as new Chairman of Verbund’s Managing Board. 

Dr. Johann Sereinig, in his function as Deputy Chairman of the Managing Board, was confirmed for another five years by Verbund’s Supervisory Committee.

With effect from 1 January 2009, Anzengruber will succeed Dr. Michael Pistauer who, in the meantime, will continue to manage Verbund in proven manner.

All in all, 18 candidates applied for a top position at Verbund. On top of that, the Presidential Committee actively addressed further top managers, among them Wolfgang Anzengruber. Five applicants reached the final selection.

We are confident that the group will benefit noticeably from this mix of internal consistency and external management competence on its successful and expansive course, both at home and abroad," said Dr. Gilbert Frizberg, Chairman of Verbund’s Supervisory Board, commenting on the decision.

The new Chairman of the Managing Board has extensive experience in the energy business, and was able to attain a high level of management competence over recent years. Anzengruber began his career at the Simmering-Graz-Pauker Group. In 1990, he switched to ABB where he last held a position in the management of ABB Österreich. In 1999, he was appointed to the Managing Board of Salzburger Stadtwerke, and from 2000 onwards, he was Head of Sales at Salzburg AG. Since September 2003, Anzengruber has been Chairman of the Managing Board of Palfinger AG and recently also CFO.
