Beate McGinn to become new head of Communications at VERBUND
In accordance with EU unbundling requirements, Gerald Schulze is to set up an independent Communications division for VERBUND-Austrian Power Grid AG (APG).
Beate McGinn (44) is to take over the position of Spokesperson and Head of Communications at the VERBUND Group in early February 2009. McGinn will be succeeding long-time VERBUND Communications Manager Gerald Schulze (50) who, in turn, will be taking over Communication Relations at VERBUND grid subsidiary APG, which operates the Austrian high-voltage grid.
Beate McGinn last worked with Philips Austria where she was head of Group Communications for seven years. Prior to that, Styrian-born McGinn managed Corporate Communications at ABB in Austria for eleven years.
McGinn has a degree in European Ethnology and also completed the postgraduate course Public Relations at Vienna University. Since February 2007, McGinn has been member of the management board at resPACT, the Austrian Business Council for Sustainable Development.
By entrusting the designated communications expert Gerald Schulze with the establishment of an independent communications division for APG, VERBUND once again proves that it is continuing to implement EU unbundling requirements consistently (separating the grid from other business areas).
