Daughters: Storming Verbund
On 23 April 2009 the sixth Daughters' Day took place at Verbund. This time, 25 daughters of Verbund employees caught an insight of the tasks and responsibilities of the IT division.
The event was started by the megawatt show, in which two groups made it to the jackpot despite the attempts of a follower of talk show master's Armin Assinger at making the participants insecure in their way to the 1,000 megawatts.
At the ensuing guided tour of the IT division, the girls were led through many exciting stations where they were shown the individual areas with their respective responsibilities.
Help desk
At the help desk, for example, they were able to experience live how problems reported can be solved via PC remote control. They were very impressed by the employees too: "As a child, I wanted to be a doctor, but when I came to Austria from Mexico, I discovered my love for the computer. So I made my hobby my profession." The fact that they can be of help to the other Verbund employees is particularly motivating to the helpdesk team.
Hardware logistics
In the hardware logistics department, employees are responsible for consulting and the procurement of hardware. In doing so, they're constantly learning. Hence, the girls visiting will always remember the personal motto of one of the employees:
"Even if you're old and gray,
there are new insights to be gained every day."
