Christian Kern Resigns as a Member of the VERBUND Managing Board

VERBUND has announced Christian Kern's resignation from office as a member of the company's Managing Board. Effective June 2010, he will assume the position of CEO of Österreichische Bundesbahnen AG (ÖBB), the Austrian Federal Railway company.

Christian Kern has been a member of the Managing Board of VERBUNDgesellschaft since 11 May 2007 and, as such, been responsible for international M&A, international equity management and development and the high-voltage transmission grid.

Christian Kern's responsibilities have temporarily been taken over by the other board members of VERBUNDgesellschaft Wolfgang Anzengruber (CEO), Johann Sereinig (Deputy CEO) and Ulrike Baumgartner-Gabitzer (Member of the Board).

The VERBUND Supervisory Board will, in due course, decide upon further procedures in connection with Christian Kern's resignation.
