Passau Office Wins Design Competition

Denz, the Passau architect’s office, has been awarded with the design of the power house for the planned pumped storage power plant, Riedl energy storage.

It is intended that a modern cube with a facade of glass and aluminium elements will in future house the power plant with its hydroelectric generating sets on the site of the existing Jochenstein run-of-river power plant.

"Since we will erect a 60-metre-deep shaft power plant, we have given some thought as to how we can most optimally blend this structural design into the ensemble of the Jochenstein Danube power plant and the "Haus am Strom"," explained project manager Dominik Mayr. "It if for this purpose that we announced the design competition."
