VERBUND brings the Tesla Energy Powerwall to Austria

Store solar energy intelligently: VERBUND, Austria's leading electricity company and SOLAVOLTA, the largest domestic provider of photovoltaic solutions, are bringing the Powerwall from Tesla Energy to the Austrian market, offering prosumers more storage at an affordable price.

The leading Austrian electricity provider and the largest domestic firm for photovoltaic systems are coming together for the sake of the energy future: VERBUND and SOLAVOLTA are launching sales of a photovoltaic package with the Daily Cycle Powerwall from Tesla Energy. The innovative energy store features more storage space at an affordable price, and that in the stylish Tesla design. Because its operating temperature range spans from -20°C to 50°C, the device is suited for both indoor and outdoor use.

High-performance home storage
With 7 Kilowatt hours for daily-cycle operation, the Daily Cycle Powerwall provides enough capacity to sustain most private households with self-generated electricity even at times of peak expenditure. In the case of an electricity outage, it supplies the energy necessary for a half a day of normal operation or around one to one and a half days of emergency operation. A sunny afternoon provides for a fully charged store and is sufficient to supply an A+++ combined refrigerator-freezer with energy for 12 days or to run an A+ television for more than 120 hours.

Personal use at a higher level
The average household consumes between 10 and 15 kWh of electricity every day, particularly in the morning and the evening. However, solar energy is available primarily at midday and in the afternoon. Storing energy the right way represents the solution to this mismatch. With the Powerwall from Tesla Energy, renewable energy is stored without a hitch, and self-generated solar energy can be used according to need at any time of day.

Secure one of the first Tesla Energy Powerwalls in Austria today
New customers can come by the complete photovoltaic storage solution at a packet price starting from € 17,900.  Included in the package are a 4 kWp photovoltaic system, the Daily Cycle Powerwall from Tesla Energy with charging management from Fronius, as well as planning, installation and startup operations. For photovoltaic systems that are already installed there is the option – in accordance with individual consultation - to upgrade the storage solution with the Daily Cycle Powerwall. For new customers, an attractive electricity rate of 12 cents/kWh applies for self-generated electricity1. Prospective customers can enrol online at any time at Sales of the Tesla Energy Daily Cycle Powerwall over VERBUND and SOLAVOLTA are beginning immediately, and the chic energy storage device is expected to be available for delivery in the first half of 2016.

"The energy future requires strong partnerships," VERBUND Chairman of the Board Wolfgang Anzengruber has underlined. "Tesla Energy stands for innovation and entrepreneurial spirit, and Tesla has revolutionised the market for e-vehicles worldwide. In only a few years' time, SOLAVOLTA has become a top provider of photovoltaic solutions in Austria.  And VERBUND is number 1 in the Austrian electricity market with electricity from 100% Austrian hydropower for our household customers. Together, we are offering the optimal solution for the use of solar energy in an 'energy-intelligent' home: Photovoltaic systems, Tesla Energy Powerwall and green electricity!"

"Photovoltaics are the premium class of energy production because solar energy can be transformed directly into electricity. Through the new storage solution made possible with the Tesla Energy Powerwall, this pure form of energy can now be utilised even more efficiently. We expect out of this the continuous expansion and strengthening of our market position for a liveable future for the next generations," emphasise Günter Krupitza and Horst Bauer, founders and executives of SOLAVOLTA Energy- und Umwelttechnik GmbH.

Technical information

The Tesla Energy Daily Cycle Powerwall is a wall-mounted, rechargeable storage battery based on the well-tested technology of the Tesla e-vehicles. It is designed for the private consumption of self-generated solar energy. In the case of a greater power demand, more than one Powerwall device can be wired together. The Powerwall will first appear on the market in white, with further colour options to follow.
