VERBUND, Austria's biggest electricity company and one of Europe's leading hydropower producers, operates one of Europe's largest onshore wind farms in Casimcea, near the Romanian Black Sea coast, with 88 wind turbines and a total installed capacity of 226 MW. In 2017 VERBUND started
supplying Romanian end customers in the industrial segment via the strategic partnership created with Axpo Energy Romania. Axpo is one of the forerunners when it comes to marketing renewable energies in Europe and specialized in the Power Purchase Agreements (PPA) business, including PPAs for energy-intensive large corporates all throughout Europe.
From July 2019, Automobile Dacia S.A. will switch to renewable electricity supplied by VERBUND for its automotive and component production: For the first year of the cooperation the two companies agreed upon a delivery volume of 344 GWh or 149,000 green certificates from the VERBUND wind power plants in Casimcea.
