VERBUND Green Power Iberia officially opens its Madrid Office

VERBUND Green Power Iberia, a subsidiary of Austria’s leading energy company VERBUND, officially opened its new office on Paseo de la Castellana in Madrid in the presence of many guests of honour.

VERBUND is Austria's leading electricity company and one of the largest producers of hydroelectric power in Europe. It generates approx. 97% of its electricity from renewable energy sources, mainly hydropower. In the long term, VERBUND aims to achieve 100% CO2-free electricity generation. VERBUND started operating on the Spanish market back in 2021. By investing in Solar and Wind generation Assets, VERBUND made a huge step forward in order to achieve the strategic goal of technological and geographical diversification. Since the first acquisition of Spanish photovoltaic and wind projects, VERBUND Green Power Iberia has grown significantly and currently employs a team of approximately 40 professionals, led by Enrique Barbudo as Managing Director.

 

Official Office Opening

On January 19th VERBUND Green Power Iberia celebrated the official opening of the new office, centrally located on Madrid’s Paseo de la Castellana. On 750 m² of office space, equipped with four office rooms, three meeting rooms, a reception area and sufficient open space for flexible workstations and future growth, the new office will be the heart of VERBUND Green Power Iberia in Madrid. Approximatively 100 guests joined the opening event, among them: Enno Drofenik Austrian Ambassador to the Kingdom of Spain and the Principality of Andorra as well as the entire VERBUND-Management Team: Michael Strugl, CEO VERBUND; Peter F. Kollmann, CFO VERBUND and Achim Kaspar, COO VERBUND.

 

VERBUND Green Power Iberia

The future of energy lies in renewable sources, and Spain has everything in its favour to lead the development and become leading in renewable energy power. In September 2021 VERBUND started operating in Spain, and since then it has been strengthening its position on the Iberian Peninsula.VERBUND Green Power Iberia currently has 300 MW in operation (250 MW solar and 50 MW wind), 100 MW wind under construction, 2.100 MW of PV and wind in advanced stage of development, and 1.200 MW in initial state of development.
