Power supply agreement for hydropower with a volume of up to 8.5 TW for 2014 and 2015.

Following several months of negotiations, VERBUND, in its capacity as supplier, and EVN, together with Wien Energie and ENERGIEALLIANZ Austria as buyers, have reached an agreement concerning power supply from 2014 onwards. In 2014 and 2015, VERBUND will supply the companies with up to 8.5 TWh of electricity from Austrian hydropower. This quantity corresponds with two years’ worth of electricity consumption for approx. 1 million households. The partnership safeguards electricity from domestic hydropower for Austrian consumers.

EVN, Wien Energie and ENERGIEALLIANZ therewith remain among VERBUND’s most important corporate clients. Last but not least, the partnership serves for Austrian value creation and assures Austrian consumers domestic electricity from hydropower. The predetermined contractual amount of a maximum cumulated 8.5 TWh for 2014 and 2015 corresponds to the consumption of some 1.1. million households and represents around one third of VERBUND’s annual electricity production.

As stressed by VERBUND CEO Wolfgang Anzengruber and his deputy, Director of Sales and Trading Johann Sereinig, this agreement underlines the four companies’ outstanding, long lasting partnership, which is in the interests of the Austrian consumer.

For EVN Managing Board Spokesman Peter Layr, Board Director Helmut Miksits of Wiener Stadtwerke Holding and ENERGIEALLIANZ Managing Directors Werner Perz and Christian Wojta, the concluded power supply contract makes an important contribution to the provision of domestic hydropower to Austrian consumers.
