On the basis of the current precipitation forecasts, VERBUND has presently begun the lowering of the Edling reservoir (the Völkermarkt reservoir lake).

On the basis of the current precipitation and runoff forecasts, VERBUND has presently begun the lowering of the Edling reservoir (the Völkermarkt reservoir lake). The water level is slowly being lowered to 90cm below the target water level.

Following the current precipitation forecasts, an influx to the Edling power plant of more than 700 m3/s is anticipated, which necessitates a precautionary lowering of the reservoir to 90cm below the target water level.
As the power plant operator on the Drau river, VERBUND has thus initiated the lowering of the Edling reservoir in compliance with the applicable governmental work regulations. This gradual and timely lowering can help to ensure that the anticipated heightening of water flow can be led off smoothly and safely through the reservoirs along the Drau river.

VERBUND operates ten hydropower plants on the Carinthian Drau river, whose annual electricity generation meets more than half the total Carinthian power demand.
