VERBUND is looking for partner companies for the 2017 Innovation Challenge

22.05.2017

VERBUND is looking for companies and institutions with innovative solution approaches for three energy-related topics. EUR 8,000 in prize money and participation in the energy2050 energy conference in Fuschl am See in September are in store for the winners.

"The energy supply of the future is renewable!" as Wolfgang Anzengruber, VERBUND Chairman of the Board states, leaving no room for doubt. "We stand for electricity generation from renewable hydropower and wind power, and we ensure Austria-wide power transmission as well as cross-border grid stability. In addition to green electricity and climate-neutral heating gas, we offer our private, commercial and industrial customers innovative products and energy services. In partnership with various industrial enterprises as well as with new players on the market, such as start-ups, we are sharing a common path into the clean future of energy!"

Three challenges
By means of the 2017 Innovation Challenge, VERBUND is seeking out companies, start-ups and institutions with innovative ideas for three different defined tasks:
For Challenge Number 1 it is about a method for analysing telecommunicated measurement data to predict the performance of dams at storage power plants. The second challenge comes from the high voltage grid area: VERBUND is looking for solutions regarding the sonification of large amounts of data, in particular operating data such as load data for power lines, transformers or other grid elements. The third challenge has to do with the topic of de-central optimisation for private or commercial consumers who have their own production facilities. How can the internal consumption be maximised and how can an interruption-free electricity supply be guaranteed?

Participation
Austrian and international start-ups can apply to VERBUND from now until June 30, 2017. The submitted documents will be evaluated by a jury according to uniform criteria. From these submissions, the jury will select three finalists for each of the three challenges who will take part in a Pitching Day in Vienna and present their solutions there. The winner of each respective challenge will receive prize money in the amount of EUR 8,000 as well as the opportunity to present themselves before representatives of the Austrian and international energy sector during the VERBUND energy conference in September.
