VERBUND on PurpleLightUp Day: For an economy without barriers

03.12.2020

On 3 December, PurpleLightUp Day, the international day of people with disabilities, VERBUND makes a visible sign to draw attention to people with disabilities in working life.

“At VERBUND, we know that people with disabilities make a contribution to the company’s success when we create the right conditions and above all demolish the barriers in our minds,” says Wolfgang Anzengruber, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of VERBUND.

That’s why VERBUND is supporting this notion with a symbolic action on 3 December, International Day of People with Disabilities. The municipal power plant in Nußdorf on the Danube Canal and the corporate head office of VERBUND on Am Hof square are bathed in purple light.
#PurpleLightUp is the largest global movement that celebrates the economic contributions of employees with disabilities. The global campaign launched by PurpleSpace founder Kate Nash in 2017 makes a visible sign around the world on 3 December, the International Day of People with Disabilities. The colour purple is used symbolically in various campaigns. #PurpleLightUp draws attention to the economic self-determination, economic participation and contribution of people with disabilities.

The striking purple illumination on the Danube Canal is supported by shareholders of Kraftwerk Nußdorf Errichtungs- und Betriebs GmbH &Co KG, VERBUND Hydro Power, evn naturkraft and Wien Energie, as well as the assistance of the City of Vienna – Water Management Department (MA 45), Wien Leuchtet - Public Lighting (MA 33) and the DHK – Donau Hochwasserschutz Konkurrenz (Danube Flood Control Agency).
