VERBUND receives an award for inclusion performance

Austria's Leading Companies award VERBUND with the special prize for 2021 for its performance as an employer in the areas of inclusion and diversity.
VERBUND was awarded the Special Prize 2021 for Inclusion initiated by the Essl Foundation in the festive setting of the Austria's Leading Companies award ceremony on Tuesday, 31 May 2022. This prize honours outstanding entrepreneurial achievements involving the integration of people with disabilities into professional life.
The prize was accepted with visible pride by Achim Kaspar (member of the Executive Board), Georg Westphal (head of Strategic Personnel Management) and Andrea Martens-Horvath (Diversity & Inclusion Manager) in the presence of Maria Sobotka (Accessibility Manager) at the Marx Halle in Vienna.
For VERBUND, it is a wonderful award for the efforts that have been made in the area of Diversity & Inclusion as well as confirmation of how important this issue is. For Michael Strugl, VERBUND CEO, diversity and including are amongst the most important factors for success – not only for the cohesion of a society in itself, but also for entrepreneurial success: "Mutual respect has increased. Diversity makes our company stronger."
Ultimately, this award is also intended to motivate us to keep working on this issue and to improve the framework conditions for people with disabilities step by step. And that is quite clearly what VERBUND has set itself as an objective: currently, around 35 employees of the newly launched project inklusiv@VERBUND are making an important contribution for more inclusion within the setting of 3 working groups. The focus here is not only on internal talents, but equally on external talents with disabilities.
