The electricity price is based on daily trading on EPEX SPOT and thus reflects the development of wholesale prices. No minimum contract term applies to VERBUND-Electricity-Float SME 2024.
Calculation of the electricity price
The energy price is always transparent and understandable for you. The electricity price is adjusted monthly using the following formula:
P = Epex SPOT monthly average x load profile factor + fixed price share
EPEX Spot monthly average.....Average value of all EPEX SPOT base prices of the previous month
Load profile factor......................................................Is recalculated annually using the synthetic load profiles according to APCS.........................................................
Fixed price share….......................Is 1.43 cents/kWh and is not subject to automatic adjustment
Load profile factor…............................... The currently applicable load profile factor until 28 February 2026 is 1.10 and is automatically adjusted annually as of 1 March based on the data of the previous calendar year in accordance with the following formula:
Load profile factor = profile value G1/EPEX SPOT AT annual averageprevious year
EPEX SPOT AT annual average (previous year)............Average of the hourly day-ahead EPEX SPOT AT prices2 of the calendar year preceding the supply for the market area Austria in cents/kWh.
Profile value G1.............Calculated value (price) in cents/kWh of the synthetic load profile G1 of the APCS (Power Clearing and Settlement AG) of the calendar year preceding the supply month,
Calculation formula:
Profile value G1 = sum VG1 x PG1 /sum VG1
VG1........Consumption in kWh of the respective quarter-hour from the synthetic load profile G1 of the APCS of the calendar year preceding the calculation.
PG1........The hourly day-ahead EPEX SPOT AT price for the corresponding quarter-hour2 for the market area Austria in cents/kWh.
The basic price is €2.99 (excluding VAT) per month per metering point
At the European power exchange EPEX SPOT, spot prices for the Austrian market are fixed in the daily spot auction based on supply and demand. The results of the auction and information on the load profile factor are available as a basis for calculating the monthly adjustment of your electricity price and can be downloaded here .
Understand your energy thanks to clear legal information:
1 The prices quoted are solely energy prices. They exclude system usage charges, flat-rate renewables subsidy, renewables contribution, biomass subsidy (surcharge for promotion of green electricity systems), CHP flat rates and other current taxes and duties on the grid and energy. Currently on energy: Electricity duty of 1.8 cents/kWh (incl. VAT) and in Vienna and some other municipalities a usage tax of max. 6% of energy costs.
2 The EPEX SPOT in its original form is a value in euros/MWh. For the calculation formulae, this amount is translated into cents/kWh.
Information on opportunities and risks:
Float tariffs are not necessarily cheaper than fixed tariffs. As you can see from the calculation example above, there may be greater fluctuations between the individual monthly prices due to the linking of the calculation of the electricity price to the
stock exchange price. The development of the stock exchange prices is passed on to you directly (at monthly intervals) in accordance with the calculation formula.
This applies to both price increases and price reductions. If the stock exchange price is high, your bill will also be higher next month. If the price on the stock exchange drops again the following
month, your electricity price also drops in the next supply month.
