International Honor for VERBUND
VERBUND has won international recognition: Austria’s biggest electricity company has been selected as one of the five companies which are qualified to be chosen best renewable energy company of the world within the framework of the "Global Energy Award".
Every year the Financial Times and Deloitte Touche Tohmatsu present the Global Energy Award, the "Energy Oscar", so to speak. Winners in 13 categories are chosen. This year, the five best per category were nominated out of more than 100 proposed companies. VERBUND, which produces more than 90 % of its electricity from hydropower, was nominated for the category "Best Renewable Energy Company of the World".
Besides VERBUND the following companies have been selected for final consideration in this category: Hydro Quebec, Energia Hidroelectrica de Navarra, National Power and Xcel Energy Inc. One of the five will be announced as: "And the winner is ..." at a gala in New York with 600 participants on Thursday, November 30.
