VERBUND Green Power Germany is inviting people to a dialogue event. All citizens of Winterberg can find out about the planned wind energy project and discuss their questions directly with the project managers.
VERBUND Green Power Germany GmbH cordially invites all citizens to a citizen dialogue about the planned wind power project. The information event will take place on Tuesday 3rd March 2026, starting at 6:00 p.m. in the village hall at Grönebach, Niedersfelder Straße 15. The main focus will be on discussions about the wind power project in the Hildfeld and Grönebach areas. The planned wind farm will secure important revenues for Winterberg in the long term while contributing to regional energy independence.
The event is designed as a marketplace format. At five information stands, interested parties will be given insights into planning, technology, landscape and nature conservation, community and regional value creation, and future equity interest opportunities. Experts from the project team will be available throughout the evening for in-person discussions. A moderated exchange round will take place at 8:00 p.m. The event is scheduled to end at 8:30 p.m. Local stakeholders and regulatory authorities will engage in dialogue with citizens.
VERBUND sees itself as a trusting and reliable partner of the region, developing projects step by step together with the local population.
Dörte Zink, Managing Director of VERBUND Green Power Germany emphasises: "From the outset, we want to talk openly and transparently about our project. Winterberg is a special location—with strong traditions, committed citizens and a long history of community responsibility. It is important to us that people here know exactly what we are planning, why we are planning it, and what specific benefits the wind farm can have for region. VERBUND prioritises clarity, sustainability and long-term partnership—we want to develop a project that will strengthen Winterberg and benefit many generations. Close involvement of all stakeholders - neighbours and property owners - and anchoring in the community are extremely important to us. This is the only way to create a project that is successful in the long term and supported by the region."
In November 2025, VERBUND Green Power Germany acquired the project rights for several wind farm sites in ENOVA’s Hochsauerland district, including the project rights for 11 wind turbines at three sites in the municipality of Winterberg: Winterberg-Hildfeld (4 turbines), Grönebach West (4 turbines), and Grönebach Süd (3 turbines). VERBUND is taking over all further development activities, and will also continue existing planning and implementation. The goal is the long-term operation of the wind turbines.
With the planned wind farm, VERBUND wants to make a contribution to the regional future of energy - climate-friendly, economically viable, and in keeping with the Sauerland landscape. The region not only generates electricity from renewable sources, but can also benefit financially from the NRW Citizen Energy Act, municipal value creation and our equity interest models. At the same time, the dialogue on site will help clarify questions and collectively find ways to make the expansion of the wind power in Winterberg sustainable and responsible.
VERBUND invites the people of Winterberg to an evening of open discussion. All interested parties - whether supportive, critical or undecided - are expressly welcome.
