The coming years will be decisive for the climate transition. With this in mind and the massive changes taking place in the energy sector, VERBUND is focusing on three strategic directions – strengthening the integrated domestic market, expanding renewables in Europe, and positioning itself as a European hydrogen player.
Project Development
The Project Development team at the Spanish VERBUND Green Power office, is in charge of the development of wind and photovoltaic projects from the initial idea until the ready-to-build stage. The project development phase includes milestones such as prefeasibility analysis to identify potential locations, securing the land, engineering design, environmental assessment, permitting, and other necessary tasks to achieve the readiness to build the wind or photovoltaic park. With new wind power and PV facilities, the use of fossil energy sources will dwindle in the long term.
Technical Operations, Construction Supervision & Asset Management
The Operations team at the Spanish office of VERBUND Green Power takes care of the construction, operation, and technical management of all the PV and Wind plants located in Spain. The team is responsible for implementing the construction and maintenance strategy for the assets and supervising the works conducted by our partners (e.g., EPC and O&M contractors). Wind and photovoltaic power are no longer models for the future but have already arrived in the here and now and provide an environmentally sound basis for the generations to come.
Finance, Controlling and Accounting
The commercial team from the Spanish subsidiary of VERBUND Green Power is responsible for all financial aspects throughout the whole process of a project including development, construction, and operation phases. Our support to other departments mainly includes accounting, controlling, reporting, financing, tax and procurement matters. We also give support to other group companies and external partners. We liaise with auditors, bank institutions, external providers and any other external party that requires financial information. Our tasks include the standardization of accounting policies, establishment of new processes and control of all the financial information.
ESG
The ESG team at VERBUND Green Power’s Spanish office makes sure that the company’s projects and initiatives are carried out according to the highest environmental standards. During a project’s development phase, the Environmental team performs a wide variety of studies required for permitting purposes, including environmental impact studies, and analyses regarding biodiversity, archaeological elements, landscapes, etc. During the Construction phase, the team collaborates with on-site environmental coordinators to ensure that the plant is aligned with all the requirements and recommendations included in the Environmental Impact Statement.
Legal
The Legal team of the Spanish office of VERBUND Green Power covers corporate matters, contract management, land contracts, energy sector regulation and all the legal matters and needs required to deploy the company strategy in the country.

VERBUND Green Power Iberia’s Marketing & Communications team oversees the company's external marketing and communications activities, while engaging with relevant stakeholders and audiences. Creating engaging content and portraying the group's key messages and milestones to the public is one of the department's main tasks, as well as portraying the VERBUND Group’s values, mission and vision in the Spanish market.
