Danube Cycle Path closure at Muckendorf until end of April

01.03.2024

Due to refurbishment and maintenance work in the Greifenstein dam reservoir on the right-hand bank of the Danube, a local diversion will be place along the “Rosenweg” from 11 March and probably until the end of April. VERBUND apologises for the inconvenience.

The Danube power plant Greifenstein entered full operation in 1986. The dam structures in the reservoir area of the power plant near Muckendorf have to be repaired this spring. To carry out the work promptly, the cycle path has to be closed. This will allow site traffic to move unimpeded. A locally signed diversion between Donaumarina (Wördern) and the Muckendorf side arm will follow the existing cycle path known as the “Gartentour Rosenweg”.

“We regret the restrictions, but the work is for flood protection and has to be done in the spring,” says project leader Hannes Einfalt, asking for everyone’s understanding.
