VERBUND sets new trends at E-World 2026

From 10th–12th February 2026, the energy industry will reconvene at E-World energy & water in Essen, the central meeting point for decision-makers from the energy, industrial and municipal sector. This year, VERBUND will present a brand new exhibition stand that impressively reflects the company’s energy and innovative power.

In line with the guiding principle "Rethinking energy: networked. intelligent. sustainable.", VERBUND sets clear strategic priorities that address both current challenges in the transition to clean energy and specific economic opportunities for partners.

The marketing and optimisation of these systems is based on many years of experience in the marketing of pumped storage. VERBUND has successfully operated in the Austrian and German market since 2018, currently marketing a battery storage capacity of more than 200 MW and 250 MWh, which is steadily growing. As a reliable trading partner, VERBUND offers complete market access for the optimal use of storage resources on the intraday, spot and balancing energy market, supported by smart algorithms that efficiently control flexibilities.

VERBUND helps operators of renewable energy plants optimally market their production, be it from solar power, small-scale hydropower, or wind power and hybrid parks with battery energy storage systems (BESS). Green hydrogen - key technology for decarbonisation

Hydrogen plays a central role in the energy system of the future, especially in areas that cannot be decarbonised through electrification or otherwise. These include energy-intensive industries such as refineries, chemicals, steel and heavy goods transport. VERBUND is therefore developing hydrogen projects in collaboration with industrial partners to support CO2 emissions reduction and site security. Given rising demand in Europe, VERBUND is also working on large-scale hydrogen import projects and diversified import routes to ensure the energy supply in core markets over the long term.
