From 10th–12th February 2026, the energy industry will reconvene at E-World energy & water in Essen, the central meeting point for decision-makers from the energy, industrial and municipal sector. This year, VERBUND will present a brand new exhibition stand that impressively reflects the company’s energy and innovative power.
In line with the guiding principle "Rethinking energy: networked. intelligent. sustainable.", VERBUND sets clear strategic priorities that address both current challenges in the transition to clean energy and specific economic opportunities for partners.
In addition to innovative system solutions, VERBUND’s proven green electricity products provide the basis for a sustainable energy supply. Companies benefit from electricity generated from 100% renewable sources, especially hydropower combined with individual procurement models, long-term security of supply, and transparent proof of origin. With this approach, VERBUND is actively helping companies decarbonise and achieve their climate goals.
"Our green electricity products are much more than just a form of energy supply - they are a strategic tool for companies to combine sustainability, profitability and security of supply. E-World is one of the most important platforms for us to make this holistic approach visible and to actively shape open communication with customers, partners and the industry," emphasises Martin Wagner, managing director of VERBUND Energy4Business GmbH.
With its innovative battery storage solutions, VERBUND offers an effective response to the volatility of renewable energies while maximising revenue opportunities through smart trading strategies. The marketing and optimisation of these systems is based on many years of experience in the marketing of pumped storage. VERBUND has successfully operated in the Austrian and German market since 2018, currently marketing a battery storage capacity of more than 200 MW and 250 MWh, which is steadily growing. As a reliable trading partner, VERBUND offers complete market access for the optimal use of storage resources on the intraday, spot and balancing energy market, supported by smart algorithms that efficiently control flexibilities.
With practical collaborative models for large-scale battery storage systems, VERBUND allows partners such as public utilities and project developers to collaborate along the entire project chain: from site development and installation to management and marketing. The aim is to achieve sustainable added value through joint project companies or marketing models, that have of course been tailored to the individual strengths of the participants.
Whether industrial plants, energy parks or decentralised production: smart site optimisation combines technical expertise with data-based analytics to fully harness existing potential. VERBUND’s Energy Performance System (EPS) is an innovative solution that allows industrial and commercial customers to monitor, manage and optimise their energy consumption in real time. Through access to relevant data, VERBUND offers risk- and cost-optimised tariffs and guarantees efficient site management. The partnership with TTTech ZYNE combines expertise in the energy market with advanced technologies to successfully master the transition to clean energy. EPS enables integrated energy optimisation that both improves site planning and reduces costs and resource consumption.
VERBUND helps operators of renewable energy plants optimally market their production, be it from solar power, small-scale hydropower, or wind power and hybrid parks with battery energy storage systems (BESS). Individual marketing models allow us to maximise profits and harness the transition to clean energy to our customers’ economic advantage
VERBUND offers its business customers access to short-term energy markets with Power-Flex and other flexibility products. Consumption and production flexibilities are marketed intelligently and additional profit is generated while simultaneously stabilising the power grid. These digital solutions use optimised trading algorithms and automated processes - a pragmatic path to greater efficiency, sustainability and market success.
VERBUND and OCHSNER are joining forces to support companies in using waste heat efficiently and implementing sustainable heating solutions. Energy efficiency, security of supply and sustainability are becoming increasingly important in energy-intensive operations. Large-scale heat pumps play a central role in this by combining electricity and heat, increasing efficiency and reducing dependence on fossil fuels.
With VERBUND’s expertise in energy optimisation and OCHSNER’s high-quality large-scale heat pumps, companies can convert their waste heat into valuable energy, which leads to lower energy costs and a significant reduction in their carbon footprint. Customers benefit from precise design, energy-optimised integration and efficient operation of the heat pump. VERBUND offers a holistic package of partners, from analysis to turnkey implementation, which is tailored to each company’s individual processes.
Hydrogen plays a central role in the energy system of the future, especially in areas that cannot be decarbonised through electrification or otherwise. These include energy-intensive industries such as refineries, chemicals, steel and heavy goods transport. VERBUND is therefore developing hydrogen projects in collaboration with industrial partners to support CO2 emissions reduction and site security. Given rising demand in Europe, VERBUND is also working on large-scale hydrogen import projects and diversified import routes to ensure the energy supply in core markets over the long term.
Visit VERBUND at the exhibition stand to learn more about our comprehensive decarbonisation solutions. We look forward to inspiring discussions and sharing ideas to shape a sustainable energy future together!
