Post and VERBUND are creating new energy services for the whole of Austria

Post expands range of services as utility provider – VERBUND’s electricity and gas tariffs to be launched in autumn

Austrian Post and VERBUND, both equity interests of Österreichische Beteiligungs AG (ÖBAG), are launching a long-term partnership. Austrian Post are expected to start offering exclusive tariffs for electricity and gas – powered by VERBUND – at approximately 330 of their post offices for the first time later this autumn. In doing so, Austrian Post is expanding its range of offers to cover another important aspect of daily life and is providing all demographic groups with easy access to attractive energy tariffs. The two companies will provide further details of the offer before market launch.

Electricity from domestic hydropower supplied by VERBUND

VERBUND brings its energy expertise to the partnership as Austria’s leading energy company and one of Europe’s largest producers of hydroelectric power. The Group operates more than 130 hydropower plants in Austria and Bavaria – ranging from run-of-river power plants along major rivers such as the Inn River, Salzach, Mur, Drau River, Enns and Danube, to storage power plants in the Alps.

With around 1,700 post offices and postal partners, Austrian Post has one of the largest face-to-face sales and advisory networks in the country. Together with VERBUND, customers will benefit from clear tariffs, straightforward processes and personalised advice in future. Once launched, the new energy offers will be available in approximately 330 of the post offices operated directly by Austrian Post, as well as via digital sales channels. This will be rolled out to more than 1,350 postal partners by early 2027.
