The Großraming power plant was built in several stages between 1945 and 1951. Until 2000, the power plants at Schönau, Weyer and Losenstein were also controlled from Großraming – the central control room is now in Steyr. The power plant’s two sets of machinery were completely renewed between 2001 and 2003. Two Kaplan turbines with a directly coupled three-phase synchronous generator generate an annual average of approx. 270 GWh of electricity.
