Operation Security Center Hydro
OSC HYDRO is the central 24-hour control centre of VERBUND-Wasserkraft in Austria and Germany. It serves as a central communication point for inquiries, security services and contact with authorities. Because power plants represent critical infrastructure over a certain size, securing the supply is a central task. With the help of the security centre, we guarantee the permanent operational security of our facilities for the population and companies.
Construction and low-pressure facilities
This department at VERBUND stands for the construction of low-pressure plants on rivers in Austria and Germany. In this department, we take care of the existing plants, plan new-build projects and are responsible for the ecological dimensions of these tasks. Electrical Engineering
The correct installation of electrical engineering measures is usually the basis for the safe operation of a power plant. This is where the area of electrical engineering comes into play at VERBUND. The department itself combines both the operational and strategic business for maintaining the supply, also in emergencies. To this end, we are already heavily involved in power plant planning and develop solutions to guarantee the flow of electricity with the highest quality.
Generation Operational Technology
Safeguarding our facilities is our primary task. Checking the maintenance and revitalisation measures needed for this requires experts who view the VERBUND Group as a whole. The Operation Technology department at VERBUND secures the operation’s infrastructure and is the first port of call when it comes to taking action at the power plants. As an internal service partner, we support the power plant groups during the inspection work and keep an eye on budgeting and network security.
Maintenance Coordination and Asset Management
The construction of a power plant is associated with many activities and tasks. In the Maintenance Coordination and Asset Management department at VERBUND, we work with Operations, Controlling and Legal to ensure that we always keep up power plants right up to date and do everything possible to promptly implement improvement opportunities. The department controls and coordinates the technical departments of VERBUND for this.
Mechanical Engineering
The Mechanical Engineering and Hydraulic Steel Engineering department at VERBUND acts as client and control body, both on new-build projects and on revitalisation and maintenance projects. The risk assessment for pre-damaged components also takes place here, as does the selection of materials and their inspection. In the in-house assembly shop in Schwarzach, the company’s own specialists carry out special assemblies, repair machines and correct technical failures.
Secretarial Affairs and Facility Law
Each change to a power plant requires corresponding contracts, agreements and processing with stakeholders and partners in government, region and local residents. To create maximum efficiency in this regard, the Secretarial Affairs and Facility Law department provides internal legal advice and carries out the associated coordination with external legal advisers within VERBUND-Wasserkraft. This avoids problems, saves money and shortens project runtimes.
