The Olperer Hut belonging to the German Alpine Club section Neumarkt in the Upper Palatinate is located at 2,389 m altitude, upwards from the Schlegeis Reservoir, and can be reached from here in approx. 1.5 hours with an elevation gain of 600 metres. The smooth hiking trail is practicable for families as well. Thanks to its south-facing location in the Riepenkar, directly under the Olperer massif (3,476 m), the third-highest summit in the Zillertaler Alps, visitors to the hut can enjoy the sun all day long. From the Olperer Hut there is a magnificent view over the Schlegeis Reservoir and beyond to the main Zillertaler Alpine ridge with the Schlegeiskees glacial field and the ice-capped summits of the Hochfeiler (3510 m), Grosser Möseler (3473 m), Hoher Weisszint (3371 m) and Hochferner (3473 m). The Olperer Hut is located along the long-distance trail 502 from Munich to Venice, the Zillertaler Runde circular route, the Berliner mountain path, and on the Neumarkter Runde circular path, a panoramic ridge path that was newly created in 2006.
