The mountain scenery of the Zillertal Alps offers the right background for special experiences. Daily dam wall tours, guided hikes and exciting events invite you to visit the Schlegeis reservoir.

A look behind scenes of electricity generation

Explore the interior workings of the 725 m-long and 131 m-high Schlegeis dam. The one-hour guide tour into the Schlegeis dam is held daily between 10:00 am and 4:00 pm, from mid May to end of October. The meeting point for the guided tour is right by the entrance to the dam. You can get tickets and further information in advance at the barrier keeper's house opposite the s'Raschtl snack bar.

Hike and guided tour “Schlegeisgrund over the years”

From July to September, you have the opportunity to take part in a guided hike with a historic perspective. The hike explains the nature area as well as the changes brought about by the construction of the power station and tourism. For the participants, a tour of the 131 metre-high Schlegeis dam is booked.

The trails on the Schlegeis and the breathtaking mountain backdrop made this event a highlight in the Zillertal. Unfortunately, the event will no longer take place for the time being. We would like to thank the organizers for their good cooperation over the last few years. 💙

Enjoy glorious colours in the autumn

The autumn is one of the most colourful times of year. Under the motto “Hiking autumn”, VERBUND offers a 50% discount on the normal tolls for the Schlegeis Alpine Road on two Sundays in September.

Whether a short walk by the reservoir, a coffee break surrounded by nature or a hike to Pfitscherjoch or the Olperer Chalet. A perfect end to the visit is provided by the many chalets offering culinary treats and unique views.
