Experience the summer solstice at the Kaprun high mountain reservoirs with alpine shaman Rainer Limpöck

  • Ride up to the Mooserboden reservoir
  • Alpine shamanic stories and rituals
  • Hike to the fireplace
  • Mountain snack (excl. drinks) with musical accompaniment
  • Solstice fire ceremony, followed by ride down into the valley

Please note that the summer solstice excursion cannot be held in bad weather. If the event is cancelled or postponed, you will be notified the day before at the latest. Alternative date: Saturday, 22 June 2024.

Sunday, 4 August 2024, from 10:00 am

Traditional date for family fun at the Kaprun high mountain reservoirs Craft corner, play stations, climbing tower, can throwing, guided dam tours for children and much more besides. Knowledge about the topics of nature, technology, hydropower and electricity generation is also conveyed in a super simple way.

On this day, admission for children (up to 15 years) is free, adults and children from 16 years of age pay the normal entry price.

dam tour at Kaprun

Daily | Dam tours

A look behind the scenes of electricity generation 

With a dam tour, we offer interested persons the rare opportunity to get to know the inner workings of the structure. Our knowledgeable staff will be happy to share further details and anecdotes from the dam's long history.


Dates:
The tours take place daily, from 10 a.m. to 3:15 p.m., and last about one hour.  


Tickets:

Available at the cash desk in the valley or directly at the kiosk at the Mooserboden reservoir.

Guided tours for children at the Mooserboden

 Learn what a glacier is, how electricity is generated from hydropower and walk through the inside of the Moosersperre. 1,2,3 and off we go! 

 Dates: Every Tuesday and Thursday (July & August)
 Start: 11:15 am and 1:15 pm
 Duration: 1½ hours
Prices:

Children up to 15 years of age free of charge / escorts €4.00

A guided hike through the mystically illuminated Sigmund Thun ravine. An experience for the whole family, with camp fire and music.

Flying Fox

The dream of flying between the Höhenburg viewpoint and the dam. The minimum age for use is 3 years old.
