Losenstein Run-of-River Power Plant

VERBUND's power plant at Losenstein is a run-of-river power plant situated on the river Enns and in the municipality of Losenstein in Upper Austria.

Technical Description

The Losenstein power plant was built from 1958 to 1962 and, after the Großraming power plant, required the most extensive construction measures to ever be carried in the backwater area of an Enns river power plant. Starting in 1972, Losenstein was controlled at a distance from Großraming, since the year 2000 it is centrally controlled from Steyr. Two five blade propeller vertically built-in Kaplan turbines generate on average around 170 GWh of electricity per year.
