Ottensheim-29: More electricity from the Danube
A comprehensive revitalisation has been taking place under the title “Ottensheim-29” since 2020. The plan is to replace key electrical and mechanical components by 2029 in order to increase efficiency.
At the Danube power plant Ottensheim-Wilhering, our power plant team on site will spend the next few years working intensively on generator refurbishments and major turbine overhauls. The revitalisation of the turbines in Ottensheim-Wilhering will supply additional electricity from hydropower for 16,000 households by 2029.
Turbine power will increase by 45 megawatts (MW). Electricity generation will increase by 56 million kilowatt hours (kWh). That means additional electricity for a further 16,000 households and avoids 42,000 tonnes of CO2 a year.
