Reisseck Daily Storage Power Plant

VERBUND's power plant at Reisseck is a storage power plant situated in the municipality of Kolbnitz in Carinthia. It was constructed from 1947 until 1952.

Technical Description

On the southern side of the Reisseck mountain, the Riekenbach, Zwenbergbach and Mühldorferbach streams have been utilized as main tributaries and fed into the Reisseck daily storage power plant.

The utilization of these waters takes place via two machine units with Pelton turbines with a total output of 23,200 kW at the Kolbnitz power plant and takes place either directly during operation or through the inline connection of the Gondelwiese daily storage reservoir. With its medium rough drop height of 678.5 m and a net capacity of around 41,000 m3, this daily storage reservoir makes it possible to adapt the utilization of the power plant to peak-time requirements.
