The online ticket for the Schlegeis alpine road

You can now pay the toll charge for the Schlegeis alpine road easily and conveniently online. We have compiled everything you need to know about the online ticket and your excursion to the Schlegeis reservoir for you here.

The Schlegeis reservoir at 1,800 metres above sea level is a popular departure point for hikes in the high mountains. In order for you to be able to visit our excursion destination on your chosen day, you can now purchase an ascent ticket online with effect from the 2023 season. You can check availability easily and conveniently in the online shop and purchase your toll ticket in advance.

Our recommendation

We advise travelling outside of the peak season, as many visitors use the road, especially in July and August. Please note that we are unable to guarantee the ascent from the Breitlahner toll station on busy days if you do not have a valid online ticket. It’s worthwhile making a quick check of the online shop because ascent tickets are often available again in the afternoon.

Important information

There is a driving ban in place on motorhomes, caravans and caravan trailers from the toll station at Breitlahner. The driving ban also applies to minibuses and cars that have been converted into camping vehicles. Ascents in one of the vehicles listed will not be permitted, even if a valid online ticket has been purchased. Please find out more in good time before setting off.

How does the online ticket work?

Go to the online shop at www.verbund.com/schlegeis-tickets (German only) and then select the desired category. Next, choose the preferred date for your visit. Then check your selection in the shopping cart and pay to complete the purchase.

After that, you can either print out the ticket or use the digital copy on your mobile phone or tablet at the Breitlahner toll station. Please note that free parking is included until the end of the calendar day shown on the ticket. Multi-day tickets must be selected separately and always printed out and placed behind the windscreen.

Is parking included in the toll charge?

The parking fee is included in the regular toll ticket until the end of the calendar day shown. Should you park at the Schlegeis for several days or overnight, you must print out the toll ticket and place it in your vehicle's windscreen. You can find the multi-day charge under Toll charge + Parking. Please note that the toll ticket is not valid for the car park at Gasthof Breitlahner.

I'm not sure whether the online payment process completed properly. What should I do?

If you do not receive a confirmation by email after completing the payment process, but have received your online ticket, then it is highly likely that the process was cancelled prematurely. In this case, check the transactions on your credit card and whether all conditions for a successful payment (correct input of data, authorisation of the cardholder, available credit balance, internet connection) are in place. If your card has been charged, but you have not received either a confirmation or the online ticket by email, please contact us.

I have a guest card. Do I get a discount?

We are happy to grant a discount to holders of a valid Zillertal Active Card, guests cards of the regions Tux-Finkenberg, Mayrhofen, Hippach, Zell-Gerlos and Erste Ferienregion in the Zillertal as well as to holders of a valid ÖAMTC and ARBÖ membership cards.

Select toll charge for guests of the Zillertal/advantage partner and show your ticket and advantage card at the Breitlahner toll station. Please note that a ticket without an advantage card will not be accepted.

We are travelling as a tour group. Do we need an online ticket?

Yes, the toll charge for the coach will be calculated based on the number of people in your group. Should the number of people at the moment of departure deviate from what was originally booked, you must inform the toll staff when you arrive. No-shows cannot be refunded.

Can I change my reservation after I’ve made it?

You can make one change to your reservation free of charge until 6:00 pm on the day before. Simply go to the online shop again and click on “Rebook”. Please note that you cannot rebook after 6:00 pm on the day before.

What do I do if the road is closed? Can I change or cancel my ticket?

If the road is closed due to weather restrictions (snow, avalanche risk, heavy rain, landslide, rockfall, mudslide, etc.), the ticket can be rebooked once free of charge. Simply go to the online shop again and click on “Rebook”. If you do not wish to make use of the possibility to rebook your ticket free of charge, please send us a message with a copy of your ticket (photo or PDF) and your bank details (IBAN and BIC) to tourismus@verbund.com. We will normally refund you the purchase amount within 10 working days.
