Lavamünd Run-of-River Power Plant

VERBUND's power plant at Lavamünd is a run-of-river power plant situated on the Drava River and west of the town of Lavamünd in Carinthia.

Technical Description

The Lavamünd power plant was constructed from 1941 to 1949. Since the work took place in two construction pits at the same time, the construction time could be kept correspondingly short. From 1982 to 1987, all three machine units were renovated little by little and their output was increased from 25,000 kW to 28,000 kW. Three vertically built-in Kaplan turbines with a DC coupled three-phase synchronous generator produce a yearly average of around 155 GWh of electricity. Furthermore, a fish ladder is currently being planned.
