Ellern Wind Farm

The Ellern wind farm in the Hunsrück Region of the Rhineland-Palatinate consists of 18 wind turbines and has been in Operation since 2013.

The wind park is partly equipped with the world's largest available type of onshore turbine, the ENERCON E-126, which delivers an impressive output of 7.5 MW each. One unit produces the annual electricity consumption of approx. 5,000 households.

Care was already taken during construction of the wind turbines to minimise environmental influences. For example, low-emission trucks were used and storage areas dismantled.
During operation, comprehensive environmental protection measures ensure that the impact on the local bat, wildcat and bird populations is kept as low as possible. Bat boxes have been installed and the breeding behaviour and migration of birds (especially cranes) is monitored and mapped.

Fish bypass

The wind park consists of 18 wind turbines, five of which are equipped with ENERCON E-126 turbines. With an output of 7.5 MW each, a hub height of 135 metres and a rotor diameter of 127 metres, one of these turbines generates enough electricity for approx. 5,000 households. The other 13 turbines are of type ENERCON E-101 with 3 MW each, 135 metre hub height and 101 metre rotor diameter.
