VERBUND's power plant of Schönau is a run-of-river plant situated on the river Enns and in the municipality of Kleinreifling in Upper Austria.

Technical Description

The Schönau power plant was constructed between 1969 and 1972. The power plant was conceived according to the Enns power plants, which are located downstream and were already fully built and ran on peak-water flow. Two vertical Kaplan turbines with a rotor diameter of 4.6 m are each directly connected to a three-phase synchronous generator and generate around 123 GWh of electricity per year.
