Mayrhofen Pumped Storage Power Plant

VERBUND's power plant at Mayrhofen is a pumped storage power plant situated in the municipality of Mayrhofen in Tyrol. It was constructed from 1965 until 1971.

Technical Description 

There are six machine units with horizontal shafts and an installed capacity of altogether 355,000 kW in the Mayrhofen powerhouse. A machine unit comprises a generator and a twin jet double Pelton turbine. The generated electricity is transported via a 220 kV cable to the outdoor substation in Mayrhofen. 
All plants of the Zemm-Ziller storage power plants are automated and are monitored and controlled from the central control centre in Zillertal in Mayrhofen.

Stillupp Reservoir 

The maximum operating level of the Stillupp reservoir has a net capacity of 6.6 million m3 and lies at 1,120 m above sea level. The Eberlaste dam with a crown length of 480 m was constructed to serve as a sealing construction.
