Hollern Wind Farm

The VERBUND Hollern wind farm is situated in the market town municipality of Rohrau in Lower Austria. It was acquired in 2009 from Wind Power Austria, a 100 % subsidiary of VERBUND Renewable Power.

In 2001, the market town of Rohrau decided to erect a wind farm within the municipality. Wind measurements taken at two different heights (30 m and 50 m) over a period of two years revealed an excellent wind potential of almost 7 m/s at a hub height of 98 metres. As a result, a further wind farm comprising nine wind turbines, each with a capacity of 2 MW, a rotor diameter of 70 metres and a hub height of 98 metres were erected between Hollern and Petronell-Carnuntum in autumn 2004.
