A glimpse behind the scenes of electricity generation

The Moosersperre Dam towers 107 m almost straight up and at the same time curves across a width of 494 m between the rocks.

With a dam tour, we offer interested persons the rare opportunity to get to know the inner workings of the construction. Our knowledgeable staff will be happy to tell you further details as well as some anecdotes from the dam's long history...

Ticket sales at the cash desk in the valley or directly at the Mooserboden reservoir kiosk. The meeting place for tours is at the Mooserboden kiosk.

Tours take place daily every 45 minutes from 10 a.m. to 3:15 p.m. and take about 1 hour.

Please make advance reservations for groups (15 or more persons).

Mystic night on the topic of water

Every Monday from 2 July to 9 September, 8:15 p.m.

The route leads through the Sigmund Thun Klamm ravine to the Klammseestüberl snack bar. A romantic campfire atmosphere and a storyteller await. For refreshment there are baked potatoes, before the torchlight walk back to the ravine entrance.

Moments in an unfamiliar world

Every Friday in July and August, 5 p.m. (reservation required)

From the late afternoon on, the Mooserboden is devoid of crowds. Wildlife dares to come out again and takes possession of the paths and slopes once more. The excursion area takes on at atmosphere all its own. Rare glimpses of the high Alpine world.

An exclusive tour through the dam, with a walk up to the distinctive Höhenburg observation deck.

Duration: 3 to 4 hours

Price: € 29 per person (including Mooserboden transfer and tour)

Number of participants limited to 8.

In the case of inclement weather the event is cancelled. For larger groups (10 or more persons) we would be happy to make you an offer.

Evening Magic at the Kaprun high mountain reservoirs

Have funlearning interesting facts about hydropower electricity generation

Every Tuesday in July and August, 1:15 p.m., starting at the Mooserboden kiosk

Go on a fact-finding tour at the Mooserboden with Lizzy, the VERBUND mascot. The interactive stations along the electricity trail show how electricity is generated from water power, what a dam actually is, and which animals live in the mountains surrounding the dam. At the conclusion we will go along the top of the dam wall to the other side of the Moosersperre dam.

Duration: approx. 1 1/2 hours

Price: free of charge for children up to 15 years; accompanying adults € 3

On tour with tame companions

Every Sunday in July and August, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Take walks near the Mooserboden along with alpacas and llamas. Enjoy the mountain scenery and learn interesting facts about the native flora and fauna.

High-flying excitement for young and old

Every first weekend of the month from July to October, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

A rope slide extends from the Höhenburg to the Moosersperre dam and is just waiting to be tried. Don't be shy, pluck up your nerve. The Flying Fox is suitable for almost all age groups.

Fun and games at the Lizzy Children's Festival

The first Sunday in August - this year on Sunday, the 5th of August 2018.

A traditional time for family fun at the Kaprun high mountain reservoirs. Face painting, creative corner, children's climbing activities, pitching at cans, games corner and much more. All this including fun and easy learning about the topics of nature, technology, hydropower and electricity generation.

On this day, entrance is free for children (up to 15 years); adults and children 16 years and older pay the normal rate.

Pedal hard to 2,040 metres above sea level

On the 1st of July 2018 it's that time again: the route up to the Mooserboden belongs to the bicyclists. About 14 kilometres distance and an elevation gain of 1,250 metres are accomplished (431 metres of elevation with the Lärchwand Inclined Lift). As a reward there is a unique panoramic mountain view, a biking souvenir and for refreshment a bikers' buffet breakfast.

Around the King of the Alps

Ready for the world record

As part of the Line Dance Alp Festival Zell am See - Kaprun (14th to 17th June 2018), a special challenge is planned for Saturday the 16th. A world record attempt in line dancing on a dam.

The blend of nature and technology meets up with Nickajack, The Trail and Four Corner.
