St. Georgen Run-of-River Power Plant

VERBUND's power plant at St. Georgen is a run-of-river power plant situated on the river Mur and west of the town of St. Georgen ob Murau in Styria.

Technical Description 

The St. Georgen power plant was constructed from 1983 to 1985. A Kaplan spiral turbine with five rotor blades and a diameter of 2.7 m rotates in the plant. It has an absorption capacity of 50 m3/s and a nominal output of 6,364 kW. The dual-span weir facility dams the water of the river Mur. Each weir field is 11.5 m wide and has a gate height of 8.7 m. The power plant generates around 31 GWh of electricity per year.
